Does one need ethics approval to conduct action-research?
Well, it depends. According to REB, if you are doing action research as part of your own practice and you do not anticipate that the participants will experience any distress, ethics approval may not be required. You should, however, check with the REB prior to conducting any research in the classroom.
If you think your research may affect students in any way, you must get ethics clearance.
